Weir’s game not in best shape

It’s down to crunch time for Mike Weir.
Weir’s roller-coaster season on the PGA Tour has left him sitting just outside the cut line for the prestigious Tour Championship, a tournament Weir won five years ago.

Once again yesterday, Weir failed to fire in the final round at the Funai Classic in Orlando, shooting a leisurely round of 72 while all around him players on the leaderboard were going low. Winner Joe Durant jumped from 66th spot into the Top 30 with his winner’s share of $828,000 US, bringing his season total to nearly $2.1 million.

TORONTO — TSN and RDS have secured exclusive Canadian broadcast rights to the most prestigious golf event ever in Canada — the 2007 Presidents Cup from Montreal — following a new four-year extension with the PGA TOUR for Canadian English and French-language rights to key events. The deal, which begins in 2007 and runs through 2010, includes The Presidents Cup, five PGA TOUR events including the Canadian Open, and four Challenge Season events. All PGA TOUR events will be televised in High Definition on TSN HD.

TSN will show the Presidents Cup

TSN will show the Presidents Cup next September in Montreal. Tiger Woods will be one of the 24 players who will make up the U.S. and International teams. TSN will treat the competition as a major and TSN’s French-language channel RDS will also cover the Presidents Cup.

The Canadian networks announced new PGA television contracts this week.

The Canadian networks announced new PGA television contracts this week.

TSN won a few and lost some. Global Television increased the number of tournaments it will air on the weekends.

But the prize was the prestigious Presidents Cup, which next September will be at the Royal Montreal Golf Club. That event went to TSN.
